Cell Description: Human rhabdomyosarcoma

Culture medium: McCoy's 5a medium with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine and 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate 90%; fetal bovine serum 10%

Subculture routine: Remove medium, rinse with fresh 0.025% trypsin solution, remove trypsin and let the culture sit at room temperature (or at 37°C) until the cells detach (about 10 minutes). Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks. Subculture every 6 to 8 days.

Split Ratio: A ratio of 1:6 to 1:10 is recommended

Morphology: epithelial

Karyotype: diploidy and tetraploidy

Tumorigenic: yes, in nude mice; forms small cell malignant tumor consistent with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma; also

in newborn mice treated with anti thymocyte serum

Isoenzymes: PGM3, 1; PGM1, 1; ES-D, 1; Me-2, 1; AK-1, 1; GLO-1, 1; G6PD, B

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative
