Cell Description: Homo sapiens (human), liver

Culture medium: Minimum essential medium (Eagle) in Earle´s BSS

with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine 1% non-essential amino acids and 1mM sodium pyruvate, 90%; FBS, 10%

Subculture routine: Remove medium, add fresh 0,025% trypsin, 0,02% EDTA solution, rinse and remove. Allow flask to sit at room temperature (or at 37°C) until cells detach. Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks.

Split ratio: 1:4 to 1:8

Morphology: Epithelial

Tumorigenic: yes, in Syrian hamsters

Isoenzymes: G6PD, A

Virus Susceptibility: poliovirus 1, 2, 3; adenovirus 3; vesicular stomatitis

(Indiana)

Comments: Cells of this line contain HeLa marker chromosomes, and were derived via HeLa contamination. The cells are positive for kreatin by immunoperoxidase staining.

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative
