Cell Description: Human epidermoid carcinoma; larynx

Culture medium: MEM Eagle with Earle´s BSS, sodium bicarbonate, 2mM L-glutamine, 0,1mM non-essential amino acids and 1.0mM sodium pyruvate, 90%; FBS, 10% (optional DMEM)

Subculture routine: Remove medium, add fresh 0,25%trypsin, 0,02% EDTA solution, rinse and remove trypsin. Allow flask to sit at room temperature (or 37°C) until cells detach, add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new falsks.

Split ratio: 1:4 to 1:10

Morphology: epithelial

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative

Biosafety Level: 1

Virus suscept: Polovirus 1, adenovirus 3, vesicular stomatitis

Isoenzymes: G6PD, A

Comments: The cells are positive for keratin by immunoperoxidase staining.
