Cell Line: Jurkat
E6-1
Cell Description: Acute
T cell leukemia, human
Culture
medium: RPMI
1640 with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine and 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate + 10%
FBS
Comments: This
clone of the Jurkat-FHCRC cell line produces large amounts of interleukin-2
(IL-2) is produced with phorbol esters and either lectins of monoclonal
antibodies against the T3 T cell antigen receptor. No IL-2 is produced in the
absence of stimuli, and both stimuli are required for activation and lymphokine
production. The line was cloned from Jurkat-FHCRC cells obtained from K. Smith
and have tested negative for mycoplasma. The cell can also be induced to
produce human g interferon.
Sterility: Tests
for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative
