Cell Line:                              MOLT-3

Cell Description:                 Human acute T lymphoblastic leukaemia

 

Culture medium:                      RPMI 1640 with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine and 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate + 10% FBS

Subculture routine:                 Maintain cultures between 5 x 105 to 6 x 105 cells/ml

Incubate at 5% CO2, 37¡C

A maximum cell density of 1-2 x 106/ml is achieved.

Morphology:                            Lymphoblast

Karyotype:                              hypertetraploid

Sterility:                                   Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative

Biosafety Level:                     1

Comments:                              Derived from the peripheral blood of a 19 year old male with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia whilst in relapse. A stable T-cell leukaemia line. The cells should be handled under laboratory containment level 2 coditions.
