Cell Description: Human ovary teratocarcinoma

Culture medium: EMEM (EBSS) with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine, 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate, 1% NEAA + 10% FBS (heat inactivated)

Subculture routine: Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1: 10 i.e. seeding at 1 x 10⁴ to

3 x 10⁴ cells/cm² using 0,25% trypsin or trypsin / EDTA; Incubate at 5% CO₂, 37°C

Morphology: Epithelial

Karyotype: 2n = 46

Comments: Derived from ascitic fluid cells of a 12 year old Caucasian female with teratocarcinoma of the ovary. The cells produce tumours in nude mice.

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative
