Cell Description: human epithelioid carcinoma; pancreas; duct

Culture medium: DMEM with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine, 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate + 10% FBS

Subculture routine: Remove medium, rinse with fresh 0.25% trypsin, 0.02% versene solution, withdraw and add 1 to 2 ml of trypsin, versene. Allow the culture to sit at room temperature or 37°C until cells are dispensed, add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks.

Split ratio: 1:2 to 1:4

Karyotype: modal number = 63; 3 marker chromosomes; 1 ring

Isoenzymes: G6PD, B

Doubling time: 52

Growth properties: monolayer

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative

Comments: Growth is inhibited by 1 until/ml L-asparaginase. The cells will also grow in soft agar.
