Cell Description: Human Burkitt’s lymphoma

Culture medium: RPMI 1640 with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine, 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate + 10% FBS

Subculture routine: Maintain cultures between 3-9x10⁵ cells/ml;

Incubate at 5% CO₂, 37°C

Karyotype: 2n = 46

Comments: Established in 1963 from Burkitt’s lymphoma in an 11 year old Negro male. Growth is in the form of single cells without attachment and as macroscopically visible clumps containing many hundreds of cells. Resistent to VSV. Handel under category II (P2)

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative
