Cell Description: Human kidney

Culture medium: McCoy´s 5a medium with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine, 1,0 mM sodium pyruvate + 10% FBS

Subculture routine: Remove medium, rinse with fresh 0,025% trypsin

solution, remove trypsin and let the culture sit at room

temperature (or at 37°C) until the cells detach (about

10 minutes). Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense

into new flasks.

Subculture: every 4 to 6 days

Split ratio: 1:3 to 1:6

Morphology: monolayer

Karyotype: 2n = 46

Comments: Established from the kidney of a 58-year-old-male Caucasian, 1998

Sterility: Tests for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative

Biosafety Level: 1

Tumorigenic: no
