Culture
Medium: Leibovitz's
L-15 medium with sodium bicarbonate, 2 mM L-glutamine and 1,0 mM sodium
pyruvate, 90%; FBS, 10%
Subculturing: Remove
medium, rinse with fresh 0.025% trypsin solution, remove trypsin and let the
culture sit at room temperature (or at 37¡C) until the cells detach (about 10
minutes).Add fresh medium, aspirate and dispense into new flasks.

Description: The
SW 1353 cell line was initiated by A. Leibovitz at the Scott and White Clinic,
Temple, Texas in 1977 from a primary grade II chondrosarcoma of the right
humerus obtained from a 72 year old female Caucasian. The initial culture medium
was L-15 containing cortisone and insulin plus 10% fetal bovine serum and
antibiotics.
