Cell Description: Hamster lung
Culture medium: DMEM + 10% FBS
Subculture routine: Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2 - 4 x 10.000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% C0₂; 37°C.
Morphology: Fibroblast

Comments: Established after spontaneous transformation of cells isolated from the lung of a normal Chinese hamster (male). The G1 phase in these cells is either absent or very short. Consequently they have been used in studies of the G1 growth period.
