Culture medium: EMEM (EBSS) + 1% NEAA + 10% FBS
Subculture routine: Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3 x 10.000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% C0₂, 37°C.
Morphology: Epithelial
Karyotype: 2n = 46; aneuploid

Comments:
The 1st aneuploid, epithelial-like line derived from human tissue and maintained by serial subculture. Identified as a contaminant in many subsequently derived lines, due to poor culture techniques. Susceptible to poliovirus 1 and Ad 3 Applications: Tumorigenicity and virus studies: poliovirus 1& Ad 3.
