Cell Line: PA-1

Cell description: Human ovary teratocarcinoma. Derived from ascitic fluid cells of a 12 year old Caucasian female with teratocarcinoma of the ovary. The cells produce tumours in nude mice.
Culture medium: EMEM (EBSS), 1% NEAA, 10% FBS (heat inactivated)
Subculture routine: Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1:10 ie seeding at 1 x 10.000 to 3 x 10.000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA, 5% CO₂; 37°C.
Morphology: Epithelial
Karyology: 2n = 46
