Zellinie

Cell name: PC-3

Cell description: PC-3 was initiated from a grade IV prostatic adenocarcinoma, (metastatic site: bone) from a 62 year old male caucasian.
Morphology: epithelial
Sterility: test for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi were negative
Tumorigenic in nude mice
Antigen Exp: HLA A1, A9
Propagation: Culture Medium: Ham's F12K medium with 2mM L-glutamine adjusted to contain 1,5 g/L sodium bicarbonate, 90%; fetal bovine serum, 10%
Fluid Renewal: 2 to 3 times weekly
Sub Culturing: Subcultures are prepared using CTC (Collagenase, 0,01% Trypsin, 0,02 % and chick serum 1%) at room temperature. Alternatively, subcultures can be prepared using a standard trypsin (0,25%) and EDTA (0,03%) dissociation protocol. The initial subculture is done 10 to 14 days after seeding. Subculture: every 7 to 9 days Split Ratio: a ratio of 1:3 to 1:6 is recommended.
Growth Properties: monolayer, the cells form clusters in soft agar and can be adapted to suspension growth.

Comments: the cells exhibit low acid phosphatase and testosterone-5-alpha reductase activities.
Biosafety Level: 1
